Review of A & S Market, West LA PDF Print E-mail
ImageA & S Food Market is a little store on the corner of Venice and Midvale Ave.  If you are driving on Venice Blvd, you cannot miss it. I typically visit the store for its convenient location (a 2 minute walk from where I live). The store is a standard size Indian grocery store and has about 5-6 aisles of spices, masala pastes, rice, atta and other Indian cooking needs. It also has a fairly big Halal meat section at the back of the store. There is a frozen food section which carries your standard products like milk, juices, frozen vegetables, rotis, parathas etc.

One of the big factors why I dont shop here is the variety of available items is much smaller that some of the other stores in the West LA area. They have very limited options on most of the items. They also do not carry many fresh vegetables. You will probably find only potatoes, onions, ginger, garlic and tomatoes and if you are lucky some fresh herbs.

Parking is also a problem here. There are only 2 reserved parking spots at the back of the store for A&S customers. The side streets and Venice Blvd are almost always filled up. Their Halal Meat counter is reasonably big and seems to carry a fresh selection of meats.

Other things to do next to the store include a Thai restaurant, Thai Boom and a Nepali Restaurant Tara's Kitchen.

I would recommend trying Asia Foods which is on Venice Blvd. I think that is the best Indian Grocery store in West Los Angeles.
