Worst place to shop - Desi Price Club
Not even worth any rating !!
I wish Food inspection agency could raid this place. This place is full of filth, garbage, saftey hazourds. Isles are full of expired stuff, Meat is mixed with old and tainted meats. usually animal organs and fats from garbage are grounded to mix with regular ground meat to increase weight.
Most of the items does not even have any expiration date so that they can be in the shelf forever.
Horse shit is better then the customer service at this place.
There are better indian grocery stores that are now open in ottawa. Paying less here does not mean you are saving money since you will end up throwing that item in garbage.

Shame!
Every time we spend money there, we regret and complain. Most of the products sold at this store would fail Health Canada and Customs requirement. The lentils sold at the store have big pebbles in them. This is called Shameful selling. The owners are arrogant and irresponsible. For them the consumers are garbage dump so what ever expired products they can procure at cheap prices is sold at the store. The horrendous part of this deal is that all sales are final. I am going to involve media, business bureau and federal agencies to look into what garbage is being sold at the store. Till them, people beware and don't feed your family with stale food. This store is in complete violation of ethics and morality.

Garbage Place
I am so disappointed with thier service and the thier price too. Bought Nank Paneer which was stinking and he refused to take back. Guess I didn't learn from my previous mistake and ended shopping again and this time 20 lbs bag of ATTA had RED TINY BUGS>..so I called him and was told that he will not exchange..cos he can't determine if I had put the bugs in it....WHAT'....I was left speechless... Anyways long story short...NEVER Again...

And this is 21 century people are smart enough to understand who's writing the blog a customer or the owner. So please stop praising yourself ...starting taking actions.

Good Luck...You have lost another customer and more...I'll make sure none of friends come to your shop.

Disappointed
These people don't understand that selling Indian cooking items at competitive prices is not the only way to attract customers. We are usually fairly satisfied with the customer service there - which, of course, keeps deteriorating every time we visit. The last time I was there (only a couple of days back) was the last straw.
(1) The guy who sells meat was not in. Instead there were 2 middle school kids looking after the meat sales, and who had no clue what was going on. When I asked when the actual guy will return, they said, "Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after, maybe a few days later".
(2) The lady behind the counter made it look like she was doing me a favor by dealing with my purchases. Perhaps the cat got her tongue, and she was talking in monosyllables - mostly "mm-hm". When she handed me my receipt and I thanked her, she said "mm-hm" What courtesy!
The food at DPC may be priced low, but courtesy there is mighty expensive!
I do hope the DPC people read this and improve their basic customer service.

Very Poor Quality
I recently got peanuts and roasted chick peas. Without any exaggeration: I HAD TO THROW THE ENTIRE PACKET IN THE GARBAGE.
The taste was that bad. It was stale I tried to save money and still use it with chutney as a snack. But couldn't eat more than a mouthful. So here goes the money in drain.

DESI BRAND IS WAY TOO BAD IN QUALITY. May be Health Canada should be invited to assess the quality of products being sold at the store.

We should demand quality
Desi Price Club is able to thrive in Ottawa just because there is not much competition.
1. Products are priced competitively as compared to Vaishali. However they are usually expired. So check before you buy. All sales are final.
2. Very disorganized
3. Extremely poor quality of products. Now they have their own brand which is useless. I suggest people to check Moncion and Loblaws because they sell Indian spices and lentils which are cleaner and much better in every aspect. You don't want to eat lentils with stones and spices full of dirt. There is no point in saving a few dimes at the expense of your health. Now, Walmart sells South Asian groceries. It's better to check out these places. Bulk and Barn can be checked out as well.

I think it's time that we should demand a better quality for every buck we spend and not allow a businessman to make profit at our expense. I like the lady owner of the store and she is very polite but when it comes to business, I think every one should be fair.

GREAT STORE!!!
Excellent store, don't listen to Chupi he/she (curry. I mean who doesn't like curry or butter chicken, or biryani? Well, DPC is a store that offers many desi foods at low prices. And they are very friendly.

Experience
What a shit hole place I ended to, expecting a large store(Desi PRICE CLUB) Walked in less then 1000sqft , unorganized isles, narrow hardly one person can go through.... almost 80% of the items not priced, asked one young person the price of Rice, the person said i have to take the bag at the cashier for price, how bags or times do i have to take the bag to get the price as rice comes in many variety and weight...... looking through the freezer .... what a disaster i wish i had not open the freezer......Never go back or recommend.. BBB must be notified for not pricing the items

Great place
They have low prices and a good variety probably the cheapest in town when it comes to spices and lentils rice and flour

Selling Expired Food...Beware
They sell expired food. Plus all sales are final with no returns or exchanges. I will never go there again!
